My dog has Laryngeal Paralysis (Lar Par) but we were told he cannot have surgery because of his age. Should we seek a second opinion?
Original Question: My dog Buddy has been diagnosed with Laryngeal Paralysis (Lar Par) but we were told surgery is out of the question because of his age. He has laboured breathing and a hacky cough on and off when he exerts himself. Should we get a second opinion on getting him the surgery? - Eva

Absolutely! I don’t have all the information but from what you’ve said, it would be worth getting a second opinion to see if either there is something else going on, or a difference of opinion. If the diagnosis has been made, you could ask for a referral to a board-certified surgeon who often has more experience in dealing with more complicated cases like Buddy’s.
