Can kittens eat boiled chicken and boiled eggs?

Whole and sliced hard boiled eggs without the shell resting on top of wood

Hi Toffy,

Thanks for your question.

I have to ask, what makes you want to feed your kitten boiled eggs and boiled chicken? I have to assume that there are other human foods that you would like to feed him or her. A diet of strictly these ingredients will not be balanced. You will need to feed your kitten carbohydrates and it would be wise to include a vitamin and mineral mixture. Better yet, I would recommend that you buy a book about homemade diets that is authored by a reputable source. This will give you lots of diet options to feed your kitten.

If you want to feed your kitten these items in addition to a standard diet, I can’t tell you whether these items are safe. Most cats will tolerate them but some may also be allergic. The only way to figure this out is to feed them very small amounts consistently and monitor their response. As long as these items don’t cause your cat to develop vomiting and diarrhea, general itchiness or any other negative clinical symptom, then you can consider the items safe. This is the same advice that I give owners who want to try out new treats. The ingredients you are considering are not toxic, but I always recommend a very slow introduction to them in very small amounts before deeming them as safe.

I hope this helps.
