Hi Chelsey,
Thanks for your question.
As per my licensing, I am not permitted to recommend any type of drug or treatment without having seen a patient. I can provide some thoughts on why your dog is not sleeping during the day.
The fact that you are asking for this may indicate that you are struggling with an anxiety or ailment of some kind with your dog. I would first work to understand why this is occurring before giving a treatment that just addresses this one symptom.
If your dog can’t sleep during the day they could be affected by a few different issues.
To list just a few possible rule outs, it could be:
- A metabolic condition
- Separation anxiety
- Pain or discomfort
- Senility
I would first recommend a visit to your veterinarian for a physical exam and consultation. They may discover some other clinical symptoms that suggest an underlying issue. Performing routine bloodwork and urine testing would be a good idea as well. I believe this would be the ideal place to start.
I hope this helps.
