Why is my cat peeing everywhere?

Cats may pee outside the litter box due to discomfort from urinary tract infections, bladder stones, or kidney disease. Cats with these conditions experience frequent and urgent urination. Other medical causes include arthritis, diabetes, and thyroid disease.

Stress, anxiety, or environmental changes can sometimes trigger cats to urinate inappropriately. Litter box aversion may occur if the box is dirty or not conveniently located. Cats may also avoid litter varieties with uncomfortable textures or overpowering scents. Unneutered male cats may spray urine around the house to mark their territory.

Consult your vet first to rule out medical issues. You may also want to work with a cat behavioral specialist to determine the cause of the inappropriate urination and discover solutions.
